Holly
The little girl with a big imagination is the “star” of the story. She embarks on a bedtime adventure and learns very quickly that what is perceived in the dark and what is real aren’t always the same.
Dee-Dee the Teddy Bear
The teddy bear is Holly’s most devoted companion. He accompanies the girl on this delightful adventure into Holly’s mind. Dee-Dee is never far from her side. The teddy bear is part of a surprise revelation at the end of the story.
The Cute, Little Seahorse
This whimsical little creature gallops by in the ocean world and wants to play. The cute, little seahorse is portrayed playing water tag in the moonlight. When danger appears, this key character helps Holly overcome her fear and become brave... because friends are worth protecting.
Holly's Parents
Mama and Papa are always there to nurture and protect the little girl, but Mama is puzzled by Holly's big imagination. Then, it is Papa who teaches Holly a valuable lesson about taking charge of her imagination.
The Sparkling Fish
The fish appear as specks of light every night and disappear just as quickly when the light goes back on. What really were those specks of light in the night? That conclusion is left for the readers own imagination!
The Horrible, Hairy Sea Monster
The scary sea monster is the villain in the story. He appears crossing the deep, dark ocean at night. The hairy sea monster enables Holly to take charge of her imagination in a childlike way. She soon discovers that scary monsters, even hairy ones, aren’t always what they appear to be.
